Today has been a win. A win that I have resisted the two Reese’s eggs sat on the worktop, but more importantly, a win that I have started the ball rolling on being able to get back into the classroom and back to teaching. So, if you are one of the people who has asked me over the past 2+ years whether I will continue teaching while living in America, today I can confidently answer: yes I will! Continue reading
A walk on the beach? In mid-January? You must be kidding, I hear you all shout. And we didn’t freeze our butts off? Nope! It even started to get a little toasty the longer we stayed. Am I making you all jealous yet? I hope not 😉
So me and D took the opportunity to spend a lazy afternoon in the small town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, which is just over an hour away from where we live in San Jose. So many people had told us about the town and how pretty it was but it took us over a year to get there! And after just a short visit, I want to go back to explore some more. Among the independent shops and restaurants, you can find quaint coffee shops and bakeries, similar to those that you can find in rural villages and towns in the UK. I even stopped (perhaps a little too long) to ogle the treats they had on offer.
As our trip was a flying visit, we didn’t get to sample any of the treats that they had to offer, Continue reading
I know it’s a cliché to start a new healthy living regime in January but what’s wrong with wanting to make a fresh start to the year? Start as you meant to go on and all that… So here we go. Me and D are mixing up our diet, taking the gym more seriously and supporting each other throughout all of the cramps, cravings and muscle pain. We are making a change to feel better about ourselves and to improve our health! Continue reading
It could be my teacher-head, but I feel the need to make plans for everything. I write down what I need to do, what I want to accomplish, where I want to be by a certain time. Planning and lists are everything for me! Whether it’s a list of to-do’s in my head or a post-it note on the coffee table, it has thought about. And this hasn’t stopped since leaving teaching. So here is my action plan for 2017; this is everything I want to accomplish in this new year and more!
Having been out of work since December 2015, I am craving the feeling of earning some money. Even if I will only spend it on clothes, shoes and stationary (guilty pleasure!), I miss the excitement of checking a bank account to see the addition of lots of pennies! Being in a new country and finally on a visa that allows me to work, it’s exciting to be able to choose whatever I want to do. In the U.K., I would still be teaching. In the U.S., Continue reading
It’s that time of year again. The time you get to make exciting plans for the future and choose something you want to do differently. Perhaps there is something you want to change or something you want to do to make your life better. Take this new year as a chance to make a difference, a fresh start maybe. I haven’t decided on my New Year’s resolution yet, and it’s not something that I normally do (or stick to!) but this year let’s make a change! Let’s bite the bullet and make that lifestyle change, or perhaps go out of our way to be a little nicer to people everyday. Maybe you want to hit the gym more than once a year, or simply take time for yourself to read a good book. It’s your choice what you make of 2017!
Have a happy, healthy and safe New Year.
What is your New Year’s resolution? Did you make one last year? Did you stick to it?
